In a small town in Sardinia destined for depopulation where the community is getting older, young people are emigrating and no more children are being born, music resounds in the alleys of the old town, in the woods, in an abandoned mine. A brass band, the same one that has been playing for a hundred years, accompanies a funeral without a coffin. The notes mingle with the grief of the last widows who mourn the dead, with the silences of the now empty places, with the cowbells of a pagan procession that crosses the Christ carried on the cross in the night of St. Anthony’s fires. A few resist and the miracle of a new music happens.
Biografia
Andrea Deidda was born in Cagliari in 1987. He is professional journalist and filmmaker, he holds a degree in Political Science and has completed two university master’s programs in communication and filmmaking. He works for newspapers and TV, and collaborates with production companies as a director, writer, and documentary cameraman. He has directed the documentary Bar Seui, the instant doc Notte di giorno, the fiction short film Santamaria, and in 2023, the documentaries Cara a su ‘entu and Dentro/Fuori.
