At the end of the Second World War, an entire generation, swept up in this atmosphere, decided to stop passing on Catalan to their children. Seventy years later we find the consequences.

The documentary reviews the linguistic evolution of Catalan in Northern Catalonia (France) and collects the testimony of the last speakers of the Rossellonese dialect.

Biografia

     

Eugeni Casanova i Solanes is a writer, director, journalist, and philosopher from Lleida. He holds degrees in Information Sciences and Philosophy , and a doctorate in Catalan Language and Literature. He has worked for Avui, El Periódico de Catalunya, La Vanguardia, Tiempo and Cadena SER. He is the co-director of the documentary Catalunya Nord, la llengua enyorada, which won the award for Best Documentary at the International Festival of Catalan Cinema in 2020.

David Valls, a linguist, holds a degree in film and television production and is the founder of Zeba Produccions. He has produced several documentaries in the Catalan language and is the author of the book  Les llengües de l’anaconda.
