Set in 1910 Sardinia, the film pits Don Fresu – an avaricious priest and landowner from Loiri – against Depperu, a cunning blind man from Luras. Their livestock deal, overshadowed by the priest’s mistrust and his suspicious housekeeper Gesuina, initially favours Don Fresu. Yet Depperu, aided by his herders, orchestrates a clever swindle that turns the tables and punishes the priest’s greed.
Biografia
Francesco Tomba graduated in Performing Arts from the University of Bologna and earned a Master’s degree in Television, Cinema and New Media from IULM University in Milan. In 2021, he directed and edited the documentary Dove nasce il vento. In 2023, he co-directed the fiction short La punizione del prete. He has also worked on productions such as Four More Shots, Please!, Lubo, and Prima di noi.
Chiara Tesser holds degrees in Communication and in Television, Cinema and New Media from IULM University in Milan. She worked as assistant director on the documentary Dove nasce il vento, and directed the shorts Un amico speciale and La punizione del prete. She is currently in pre-production with Pola and is involved in the film adaptation of La bambina della sesta luna. She has worked as a location manager on several projects, including Lubo, Prima di noi, Il rapimento di Arabella, Sporco, and Le città di pianura, selected for Cannes 2024. She is currently working on the Rai film Il rosso volante.
