Hosyar Ali Hasan was born and raised in the Kurdish town of Halabja in northern Iraq. During the Iraq-Iran war, millions of mines were planted on the Iranian border. Hosyar Ali lost both legs during mine clearance, but continues to collect them every day: 2,600,000 mines in 28 years. Uncle Hussein lives in Merivan, Iran. After years of smuggling, he started making wooden prosthetics for those who lost their feet to landmines.
Biografia
Haydar Demirtaş (b. 1984, Mardin) is a screenwriter and director. He studied at the Department of Communication, Faculty of Art and Design, Istanbul Kültür University. His debut short, Gezici Nalbant, and the documentary Babam Tarih Yapıyor have won multiple awards. Misafir (2013) was selected for numerous national and international festivals, including the Cannes Short Film Corner, and received several honors.
